the man in the iron mask

if you read the three musketeers you will understand this book better. it is a follow up of the three musketeers. After thirty years D'Artagnan became the captain of the kings musketeers and Aramis retires to become a priest. Athos and Porthos were not the main ones in this story.  Aramis Plotted against the king, he wanted to replace the king with his unknown twin brother. he was successful until he confided monsieur Fouquet in the plan. monsieur Fouquet immediately went to save the king, when the real king came back to his palace he was really mad and said that his twin brother was to be imprisoned for life inside an iron mask. the iron mask was bolted on his face. Aramis escaped with Porthos (though Porthos had nothing to do with the plot) D'Artagnan was to chase after his friends. he tried to save them and disobey the king, but the king took precautions. everyone was against their captain. Aramis managed to escape but Porthos sadly died. Athos died a peaceful death. four years later Aramis and D'Artagnan met again. the two friends were overjoyed to see each other. and sadly that was the last time they had ever seen each other for D'Artagnan died the second he fulfilled his life long dream which was to receive the baton of ...... something (i forgot the name).
