Does this so called curse ever go away, is Mrs. Bayfield a witch? Well you got to read to find out. This is another novel by Louis Sachar.
An exciting blog for 7B to record their own reflections on the books they have read and to read and comment on the reviews of their classmates too.

The Boy Who Lost his Face by Louis Sachar
This is about a boy who (he thinks) is cursed. His name is David Ballinger, he has (well technically doesn't) a best friend called Scott who wants to become popular so he joined in with the popular group in the school. Which includes Roger and Randy. But David has problems joining in, he just tags along with the group when they play a nasty prank on poor Mrs. Bayfield. He feels so guilty of what he did (he didn't do much but he didn't try to stop them), so then the curse strikes. Mrs. Bayfield yells a chant "Your Doppelgänger will regurgitate on your soul!", he doesn't understand a bit until he looks it up. The following days he insults his mother, breaks the window and embarrasses himself in class. That's not all. He has a horrible time and he is certain that it's the effects of the 'curse'. It's even worse when Scott bullies David because he's hanging out with 2 new friends (who try to help him). They're called ' The 3 Stooges'. Not to mention, his pants falling down right in front of the girl he has a crush on, that was embarrassing.

ReplyDeleteIf you enjoy this book, you should read 'Dogs don't tell jokes'
I did read 'Dogs don't tell jokes' just before reading this book. I really enjoy reading Louis Sachar books.
