The Red Badge of Courage

When Henry Fleming joined the army, he dreamed of becoming a great hero in War Between the States. But with gunfire and cannons raging around him, Henry faces his biggest fight of all: an inner battle to overcome his terror. Will Henry be able to defeat his fears? Or will he disappoint himself and let his fellow soldiers down?
This is a very good, interesting book. If anybody would like to read it, please ask.

railway line and waving to the passengers. They

and with the Old Gentleman who regularly takes
the 9:15 down train. He is eventually able to
help prove their father's innocence, and the
family is reunited.

The Boy Who Lost His Face by Louis Sachar

In a 1989 suburban town, a boy named David tries to get in the cool group by helping his friend Scott, and two troublemakers named Roger and Randy (the former being the leader) carry out a prank. Their target was an elderly woman who was called a witch by all the kids in the neighborhood. When they attacked her and stole her cane David flips her off to try to impress Roger. But when they were leaving the old lady's house, she cried out to David "Your Doppelgänger will regurgitate on your soul!" The following days David finds himself experiencing strange happenings that lead him to believe that he is cursed. After being rejected by Roger and his gang, David finds himself becoming a loser. He breaks his parent's window, he walks into class with his zipper unzipped, he falls off his chair in class, and his only friends are fellow outcasts Larry and Maureen "Mo". His actions lead Rogers gang to target him and his friends, calling them "The Three Stooges". He becomes friendly with a cute girl named Tori Williams, but his pants fall down when he gets the courage to ask her for her phone number. Finally, his little brother, after being ridiculed by Roger's younger brother, loses all respect for David.

Eventually, David begs the elderly woman to remove the curse, but she asks for her cane to be returned first. As it turns out, Tori does not turn on him for his moment of humiliation, and tries to pretend that she had her eyes closed in thought to prevent David from becoming uncomfortable around her. David finally decides to fight for his dignity, and, with his friends and little brother by his side, he goes to face Roger's gang and get the cane back, not suspecting that many things, including the curse, are not as they seem.

Barry Trotter and the shameless parody

This entire book is a parody about Harry Potter. It's about Barry Trotter, (in his 11th year) who tries to stop a film being made about him. They come across the dork lord, Lord Valumort and his gang of Earth eaters. Barry gets to J.G Rollins and asks her to stop the movie. However, Lord Valumort kidnapps Barry and almost kills him, if it wasn't for the loyal jelly. But suddenly, the whole plot and everything turns out to be a plot for a Barry Trotter movie, in which the Aim of the main character is to stop another film being made about him! And in the end, it turns out to be a Word document which Barry typed up! Confusing? Read it and you will figure it out!

Paragraph structure for directing The Tempest

In Act, Scene 1 of The Tempest, Shakespeare shows Antonio to be a rude and offensive character when he writes,
“Hang cur! Hang you whoreson”
This is offensive as he is comparing the Boatswain to a “cur’, a …… and ……… animal. In addition, he calls him a “whoreson’ , insulting the Boatswain’s m….r and implying she is a …… I would direct the actor to say these lines in a …..voice to show his……. and I would make him move in a ….. With a …… expression

If you have any problems, please come and see me. Remember to write about the characters (Gonzalo, Sebastian and Antonio), the costumes/ props, the sound effects/ music and the conclusion!

Good luck!!

The Penultimate Peril

This book is, well, the penultimate book of the unfrotunate events series. (Penultimate means next to last) In this book, the Baudelaires work at a hotel (Hotel Denoument) while trying to observe who are the villains and who are the volunteers, as there is to be a meeting in a few days time. This is harder than expected, though, as the whole hotel uses the Dewey decimal system to allocate their guests.(A philosopher will stay on the first floor, just like books on philosophy will be on the section labeled: '100'.) As the situation unravels, the Baudelaires discover that the errands they did all contributed to a dastardly plot to intercept an important parcel.(the sugar bowl) But why is the sugar bowl so important? Read to find out!!

The End

This is 'book the last' of the unfortunate events series. The Baudelaires find themselves shipwrecked on and island inhabited by other castaways who were shipwrecked there too! They meet the leader, Ishmael, who banishes count Olaf from the settlement. However, count Olaf still manages to cause chaos by releasing a poisonous fungi into the island. Want to know the ending of The End? Read it now!
