Stephanie's uncle, Gordon, just died-or was he kill? And who is that stranger with his whole body covered? Stephanie was shock to hear that her dead uncle had left her most of his fortune, one day she decided it was her chance to stay somewhere without her parents so she spent the night at her uncles house but at midnight she receives strange phone call. Right after that the same person broke into the house and tried to kill her, Stephanie figured that without the stranger, Skulduggery Pleasant, rescuing her she would be dead by now. How did he rescue her? Did he use his fists? NO. He used MAGIC. Stephanie now knows all about the secret world of magic, she didn't realised that magic was so close to her. She was fascinated and persuaded Skulduggery to let her come with him on his cases, together they encountered lots of things like: vampires; hollow men. One time encountering Skulduggery's worst enemy, Serpine (person who killed Skulduggery the first time), Skulduggery was captured. With the help of friends: Tanith Low (skilled girl warrior) and Ghastly Bespoke (Skulduggery's close friend) they freed Skulduggery but in the mean time The Elders (the ministers of the magic world) was killed by Serpine, using the Sceptre (most powerful weapon in the world).
