This series focuses on Lyra, a twelve year old girl, whose life is completely changed when she was given an alethiometer. Along with Pantailamon, her dæmon, and her friend Will, she travels across universes and fights battles. The series of events revolve around and take place as a consequence of the presence of elementary particles called dark material or Dust.
The gobblers kidnap Lyra’s best friend, Roger. While leaving Jordan College, she is given a secret alethiometer with which she begins an extraordinary and adventurous but dangerous journey to the frozen North in the world of ice-bears and witch clans in search of her friend.
