DOGS DON'T TELL JOKES by LOUIS SACHAR

Meet Gary Boone, who is most likely to become a stand-up comedian (well at least he thinks so). He goes to school at Floyd Hicks Junior High School and currently is in the seventh grade (according to the book). He loves telling jokes, nearly everything he says is a joke and everyone calls him Goon, not the teachers obviously but he does tell them to.

Even though he tells jokes not many people laugh at them, only his dad, Angeline and her family. He was in the fifth grade when he met Angeline, she was 8 years old but put in the sixth grade because she was smart, thew smartest person in elementary school. She told him that he was the funniest person in the world, so to him it didn't matter if nobody laughed at his jokes. She moved though, to Manusec School in Nebraska where she learned astrophysics and nuclear chemistry. You still see more of her in the story.

He doesn't seem to be so popular since everyone doesn't play with him at recess and lunch. Although he tries to join in playing football, all he does is just hike the ball, nothing more.
But then an opportunity came along, a talent show to celebrate Floyd Hicks birthday. He was completely into it, the first to sign up but something goes wrong...he quits. Why? That's for you to find out.
